“For the reasons set forth in an Opinion filed today, it is this 6th day of August, 2014, by the Circuit Court for Calvert County, Maryland, ORDERED that Ordinance No. 46-13 is deemed to be invalid, having been passed by the Board of County Commissioners outside of the Board’s authority.” This ORDER OF COURT signed by Judge James P. Salmon.

Now that Calvert County’s attempt to fast-track their local permitting process for Dominion Cove Point’s (DCP) proposed LNG export facility has been thwarted, we must be vigilant in monitoring the commissioners and ensuring that they do not skirt their obligation to make sure DCP goes through the normal permitting process.  This includes things like approval of a site plan, stormwater management plan, adequate emergency services, and more.
